Estos son los ganadores de los 'Critics' Choice Awards', pero no serán los de los Emmy

Anoche se celebró la gala de entrega de premios de los Critics' Choice Awards y la lista de ganadores está liderada por ‘The Americans’ y ‘Silicon Valley’ (imagen de portada), que se han convertido en el mejor drama y mejor comedia respectivamente. No es nuevo que a la prensa le encanta utilizar cualquier premio para vaticinar lo que vendrá en los próximos Emmy, pero su mirada no debería estar entre las elecciones de la Asociación de Periodistas de la Televisión American (BTJA).

La ristra de nominados y galardonados se ha nutrido de títulos que quedaron lejos de ser reconocidos en los pasados Emmy. De hecho, a los Critics' Choice les encanta escuchar al fandom de las series y están más metidos en el ruido mediático que hacen algunos títulos que después no tienen reconocimiento en los premios más prestigiosos, como es el caso en esta edición de 'The Americans' o 'Justified'. Aunque seguramente ellos siguen más orgullosos de lo de Tatiana Maslany.

Pero no nos engañan. Sabemos que en el fondo da gustirrinín lo de ser los primeros en reconocer producciones con potencial de ser laureadas posteriormente en los Emmy; no digo que novatas como 'Better Call Saul' no merezcan los premios que se han llevado a casa, pero apostar por el spin off de 'Breaking Bad' es un win-win. ¿Qué los Emmy no la premian? Los Critics' Choice supieron ver la calidad de una gran serie, digna heredera del título madre. ¿Qué Bob Odenkirk acaba recogiendo la estatuilla? Los Critics' Choice Awards did it first.

De hecho, una prueba de que les gusta el ¡yo primer! es su categoría de nuevas series más prometedoras y excitantes, en cuya lista todas son ganadoras y encontramos títulos que llegan la próxima temporada como ‘Blindspot’, ‘Minority Report’, ‘Supergirl’ o ‘The Muppets’.

¿Antesala de los Emmy?

A los Emmy les gusta reconocer lo que hace ruido, por lo que no creo que la Asociación de Periodistas vaya desencaminada con respecto a 'Empire'. Precisamente son más dados a colocar este tipo de títulos masivos en sus filas que a premiar propuestas más pequeñas y provocadoras como 'Transparent'. No por nada, sino porque la ATAS (Academy of Television Arts & Sciences) no ve esas series. Suerte que Jefferey Tambor ha tenido visibilidad también gracias a los Globos de Oro y seguramente sí le veamos presente en los Emmy.

Seguramente tampoco anden desencaminados con Amy Schumer (que está en la cresta de la ola ahora mismo) o Allison Janey, pero hay una cosa a tener en cuenta y es que este año la Academia de Televisión ha cambiado alguna de sus reglas, permitiendo que los votos sean más abiertos y facilitando la entrada en las listas de candidatos menos populares o seguros. Quizá vemamos unos Emmy más variados y no tan repetitivos, cercanos a lo que han sido los Critics' Choice o quizá se demuestre que la Academia de Televisión no ve televisión y siga igual.

En cualquier caso, siempre nos quedará Seth MacFarlane. Quería despedirme con su discurso de agradecimiento porque es un tipo que arremete contra todo y todos (incluido él mismo). Recogía el Louis XIII Genius Award, un premio otorgado como honor a un icono relevante de la industria, de manos de Charlize Theron, quien presentó el premio refiriéndose a ‘Mil maneras de morder el polvo’ como una excusa de 40 millones de dólares para enrollarse conmigo.

(…)Que te llamen genio en Hollywood es como que te llamen delgado en Disneyland. Y no olvidemos que estoy siendo calificado de genio por la cadena que emite ‘Duck Dynasty’, donde creen que los huracanes son provocados por el matrimonio gay. Ojalá estuviese bromeando.

Quiero agradecer a FOX por confiar en una pequeña y peculiar serie animada sobre un padre patoso y su familia que vi y después creé 'Padre de Familia'. Y quiero agradecer a los críticos televisivos. POR TODO.
